Dawn & Angela

Wednesday, January 28th, 2009

To all potential customers who need a loyal plumber; I have a true Christmas Story I want to share with the entire community.  My name is Dawn, and I am a divorced, single mom with no home maintenance experience and I am currently raising a six-year-old daughter.  I happen to live in a mobile home in the city of Thornton and I work a job as a waitress.  One cold night in December, the temperature dropped to 19 degrees below zero, my friend noticed I still had my garden hoses hooked up to my water line.  When we unhooked them, Angela and I heard a dripping noise.   My worst fear was realized; the main source that provided me with water had burst.  Immediately afterwards, Angela’s husband, Jerry, came over and fixed all of my pipes with copper pipes and fittings.  He paid for all of the maintenance, and did the work himself.  But unfortunately, all of the work was to go to waste.  The next night it got even colder, and the water froze.  I called Angela and she recommended Benjamin Franklin Plumbing.  Though I had no money, she convinced me to call them anyway.   When I did, they would come and check out the damage for $19.  I agreed to the appointment.  But then a rock had hit me in the pit of my stomach; even if I did know what was wrong, I had no options or hope of paying for it.  With that, I waited with Angela for them to examine the pipes.   After the inspection, they showed me the price, the minimum was $509.  Then they said they would have to start right then and there,…after I said no, I explained my situation to them.  I was amazed at their reaction:  “Our boss says to tell you Merry Christmas.” They paid for everything!  I started crying, as did Angela.  So they fixed the pipe and did it with a smile.  Afterwards, my friend called to thank them, but unknown to me at this time; they asked what else they could do for me.  Angela explained my various health problems to the company, and the Degenerative Disk Disease and Barrett’s Disease.  During the phone call, Angela mentioned that my car was dysfunctional and had been parked at the restaurant I worked at for nearly eight weeks.  So they arranged for my car to be towed from the restaurant, to the Saturn workshop in Northglenn (who pitched in for parts) to be fixed.  So now I have a car, and pipes that actually give me water when I need it.  this true Christmas Story and I think all involved have learned not only that you can rely on people, but you can count on the care, love, and support that they give to not only their customers but to the members of the community.  Benjamin Franklin Plumbing is the true example of what everyone can be like everywhere, and I believe a simple ‘Thank You’ will never, ever be enough.

I would like to tell you about my experience with the plumbing at our two units at Hillcrest Condos.  I bought my condo about 25 years ago, it had normal repairs over the years but nothing major.  About 3 ½ years ago I purchased another unit which was in good repair.  In December of 2008 both units had dripping faucets and poor plumbing under the sinks.  The tubs also dripped water and I know from the past experience that finding the correct parts for the old faucets was next to impossible.  I had heard about Ben Franklin Plumbing on KOA radio and Tom Martino and decided to call.  Drilon D., from Ben Franklin came out and did a COMPLETE inspection of the plumbing at both units for free.  We went over the list for each unit plus my “TO DO” list (need to keep mama happy) and came to a decision on what we would like to do.  The work was scheduled and three technicians came out and the plumbing was done at both units in one day.   The work done by Ben Franklin Plumbing was first class.  They answered all of my questions on replacement items, how things worked and cleaned up after each fix or install.  We had one minor problem with the tub replacements but one call and within two hours they were here and the problem was taken care of at no cost.  It was so nice to hire professionals to do the work and have it done correctly and give us a good night’s sleep.

Just a note to express my appreciation as a consumer and a human being (like we all are) for the service manager, Jake F.  His verbal professionalism and the respect he showed me were both very impressive!  From personal experience, businesses that deal with the public, so many times, simply refuse to routinely treat customers with politeness and patience.  Jake certainly gave me a positive feeling about the company that he works for!  If possible, please reward Jake with a salary increase!

I am writing to thank you for providing efficient and effective service to replace an outside faucet.  It had been replaced and then repaired (under warranty) by Deer Creek Plumbing a long time ago but has recently stripped out again.  Marvin R. replaced it on June 17 and did a great job.  I hope all of your guys are as nice & courteous as Marvin-thank you Marvin!  And thank you Benjamin Franklin for replacing my faucet with no charge.  I did not expect you to do that.  Please be assured that I’ll call Benjamin Franklin Plumbing in the future!

Just a short note to thank you for the shiny, new kitchen faucet Paul G. installed a few days ago.  Your company was most generous and it was very much appreciated.  I will recommend your company to my family and friends!

Just wanted to say “thank you” for your kindness, mercy & professionalism toward me, without those qualities I would not have a new water heater which I am very happy with!

Thank you for being so patient with me as I voiced my frustration with the installation of a new water heater with Ben Franklin Plumbing.  After the technician came out to make some repairs, we had not had any further leaks and I feel much better about your company.  It says a lot about a company when they “make good” on a bad situation.  That is a testament to you.  The technician also did an excellent job & was very courteous.  Thank you!

Steve P., a plumber from Benjamin Franklin Plumbing just left after returning to check (and find the source) of our shower leak.  (The work he did before was all ok).   He also spent nearly an hour telling us how to drain & flush the water heater & improve other things for more safety.  I want to thank you for your service and let you know we appreciate the care he gave us.  He is an asset to your company!

As we all know, no individual or group or business is ever “perfect” and our family knows from a recent experience that the Benjamin Franklin franchise in Denver, is no exception to that rule.  However, very few, if anyone, especially short-sighted or greedy businesses, have ever reacted to their imperfection(s) at our residence as that franchise did.  Not only did that franchise react with promptness and complete professionalism, but equally important with more then-we-expected financial compensation in the form of labor and parts without charge for/after a hot water heater inspection, where the original problems involved a kitchen faucet and related plumbing.  For that, I predict a long and prosperous future for that franchise.  WAY TO GO BFP!

It has been a little more than four months since Benjamin Franklin Plumbing replaced the drains in my bathroom.  It was a job I was dreading and had put off, time & again, because of its complexity and the problems I expected to rear their ugly heads.  The original plumbing was done in the twenties and was accomplished while the house was under construction, with lead pipes, wipe joints, hidden traps & J bends.  Some had been run through floor beams and concrete walls.  I called several plumbers and received as many answers.  Some were reluctant to drop by and inspect the job and others talked themselves and me in the bargain, out of the job because my expectations were high and I did not want to rebuild the entire bathroom.  When I saw the Benjamin Franklin Plumbing truck across the street from my house I walked over to watch.  The work was in process at a house very close to the same vintage as mine as I wanted to see how the work was being done.  I asked a lot of questions and received very friendly answers from very friendly plumbers who were doing an exceptionally good job.  Steve the owner, especially, was easy to talk to, quick to respond and very interested in my problem and how it may be solved.  The end result is every bit as good as I expected.  I am very satisfied.  Now when I see a Benjamin Franklin truck parked in front of a house I have the urge to knock on the door and tell the resident he or she made a wise choice.  But, of course, that won’t be necessary.  Soon they will know, first hand, and become the booster I am.
